Global Engineering Recognition under the IPEA Framework
BPERB is currently a Provisional Member of IPEA and is NOT yet authorised to enter individuals on the International Professional Engineers Register or to confer the full IntPE title. Applicants approved through IntPE pathways will be awarded the National PEng designation only at this time. Once BPERB attains Authorised IPEA Membership, eligible National PEng holders may apply to be entered on the IPEA Register and IntPE Register — this will be a separate individual decision and is not automatic.
The International Professional Engineer (IntPE) designation is awarded under the International Professional Engineers Agreement (IPEA) — also known as the Engineers Mobility Forum — which facilitates the international mobility of professional engineers by recognising the substantial equivalence of competence and professional standing across member countries.
BPERB has been a provisional member of IPEA since 2003 and is actively progressing the work required to convert this to Authorised Membership. The IntPE pathway demonstrates an engineer's competence at an internationally benchmarked level, paving the way for cross-border engineering practice.
