About BPERB

Statutory Authority of Professional Engineers' Registration in Bangladesh

Established in 2001 under the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB), BPERB is the national authority for recognising professional engineering competence and safeguarding public safety across Bangladesh.

Following the enforcement of BNBC 2020, BPERB serves as the regulatory platform overseeing statutory design certifications through the RAJUK Electronic Construction Permitting System (ECPS). All structural and geotechnical designs must be certified by a BPERB-registered engineer.

Registration Pathways

BPERB offers three distinct registration categories. Choose the pathway that matches your qualifications and experience.

Registered Engineer (RE)
BNBC 2020 / ECPS Compliance

Mandatory for all structural and geotechnical designs submitted to RAJUK. Four categories (I–IV) based on discipline and experience.

  • 4 Categories (I to IV)
  • 3 Routes: A, B, Grandfather
  • Written exam for Cat II, III, IV
  • RAJUK ECPS mandatory
National PEng
Professional Engineer

The national mark of engineering competence. Demonstrates advanced professional standing to employers, clients and regulators.

  • 7+ years post-graduation experience
  • 2 years in responsible charge
  • 30 CPD hours per year
  • IEB membership required
International PE (IntPE)
IPEA Global Recognition

Aligned with the International Engineering Alliance framework. Enables cross-border engineering practice in 13 IPEA authorised countries.

  • Active National PEng required
  • 50 CPD hours per year
  • 13 IPEA partner countries
  • No exam for active PEng holders

Process

How to Apply

Check Eligibility

Review RE, PEng, or IntPE requirements and confirm you meet the experience and qualification criteria.

Submit Online

Complete the application form on the BPERB Portal with your CV, competence report and supporting documents.

Pay the Fee

Pay via SSLCommerz (bKash, Nagad, cards) or bank deposit to Mercantile Bank PLC.

Await Assessment

The Assessment Committee reviews your application. Approved candidates are listed on the official register.

Contact Us

Minimum 30 CPD hours per year for PEng; 50 hours for IntPE; 20 hours for RE. Hours must be submitted with supporting evidence during annual renewal.

New application fee is BDT 10,000 (one-time). Annual renewal is BDT 4,000. Late renewal incurs an additional BDT 2,000 per year of delay.

ECPS (Electronic Construction Permitting System) is RAJUK's digital platform for construction permitting. Engineers must hold the BPERB Registered Engineer (RE) designation to get enlisted in RAJUK ECPS for submission of engineering designs.

Yes. Engineers holding active PE status in an IPEA-authorised member country may apply for PEng/IntPE recognition in Bangladesh without a written examination or viva voce.
