- Actively co-supervised the project works of a number of graduate students involving a campaign to promote the practice of Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and Pollution Prevention (P2) in the industries in US. During that period guided the graduate students in presenting their ideas in the USEPA National Roundtable held in Arkansas on EMS and P2 in 1996.

- Developed a personal computer-oriented menu-driven package program for data verification for use by the USEPA (1987-1988).
Developed a multi-layered sediment-water interaction model for the Patuxent estuary, funded by Maryland Department of Environment. This model is currently being used to analyze the environmental impact of selected restoration alternatives to reach the Chesapeake Bay restoration target. In addition, actively participated in the calibration and verification phases of the Neuse River Estuary (Maryland) eutrophication model (1989-1992).

- Developed the Kingman Lake Eutrophication Model (KLM) for the District of Columbia Environmental Regulatory Administration (DCERA), USA. It was used as a tool to assist the US Army Corps of Engineers (COE) in evaluating the water quality impacts of restoration alternatives for the Kingman Lake (1992-1993).
- Served as the principal staff of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Government, USA for evaluating results of the Chesapeake Bay 3-D time variable model’s application to the Potomac Estuary in the Metropolitan Washington zone. Project involved analyzing fate and transport of point and non-point source discharges to the Potomac Estuary and their predicted impacts on main-stem Bay water quality, and reporting the findings to the United States local government agencies. In addition, assessment of the potential effect of Bay-program nutrient removal decisions on the freshwater Potomac Estuary was also performed using modeling tools (1992-1993).
- Conducted, in association with Engineering-Science, Inc., USA, an extensive study on the cost of upgrading the major wastewater treatment plants on the Potomac Estuary in the Metropolitan Washington DC, USA. The study provided current estimated cost involvement for the local governments to reach the Potomac Nutrient Reduction goals. This will eventually help attain the Chesapeake Bay restoration goals by the year 2000 (1992-1993).
