Awarding Professional Recognition in Registered Engineer Category

Since its inception in 2001, Bangladesh Professional Engineers Registration Board (BPERB) has been working to uphold the professional image of Bangladeshi Engineers. It has been awarding the highly prestigious Professional Engineer (PEng) recognition to the qualified engineers following a process endorsed by International Professional Engineers Agreement (IPEA) under the International Engineers Alliance (IEA) from its very inception. BPERB is a provisional member of IPEA since 2003 and is expected to become an authorized member soon.

Apart from awarding PEng, BPERB has been instrumental in fulfilling the needs for qualified engineers in local authorities, such as RAJUK and other city corporations and municipalities as per their requirements. With the advent of professionalism in every sphere of life and with the latest version of Bangladesh National Building Code (BNBC) 2020 enforced, BPERB is awarding certificates to the practicing engineers as Registered Structural Engineer, Registered Geotechnical Engineer, and Registered Building Services Engineer for Electrical, EME, Plumbing, Construction Supervision, Building Demolition, Completion Report & Soil Investigation Report as mentioned in BNBC 2020.

The assessment for the professional recognition will be done through a viva voce examination by panels of experts constituted by BPERB. The evaluation will be conducted with utmost fairness and impartiality. It will primarily focus on the project drawings submitted by the applicants, along with their knowledge in their expertise and BNBC provisions.

Eligibility

1. Be a corporate member of IEB.
2. Have at least 5 years’ experience after attaining bachelor’s degree or 3 years after MSc Engineering in the relevant field.
3. Have a PEng. If not, acquire within 3 years of enlistment.

How to Apply

1. Download the Application Form from the BPERB website and submit with:
   • IEB Membership Certificate
   • Academic Certificates (B.Sc./MSc/PhD)
   • Professional Certificates (PEng, DMINB or similar)
   • CPD Certificates (last 3 years)
   • National ID card
   • Signed CV
   • Drawings of minimum 5 projects with reports
   • Relevant reports/certificates of at least 5 projects
   • BDT 10,000/- payment slip to BPERB account
2. Attend the viva as per notice from Registrar, BPERB.

How to Appeal

1. Write an application to the Registrar, BPERB explaining concerns within 1 month of result.
2. Include copy of original Application Form.
3. Pay BDT 2,000/- to BPERB bank account and attach proof.
4. BPERB will form a 3-member reassessment committee.

How to Renew

1. Download and fill renewal form, make it PDF.
2. Pay BDT 5,000/- to BPERB bank account.
3. List 20 hours of CPD completed in previous calendar year with proof.
4. Email documents to bperb.ieb@gmail.com & registrar@bperb.org.
